Rosie Sharpe
Rosie Sharpe was a campaigner at Global Witness, a non-governmental organization based in London and Washington, DC for 16 years. Global Witness exposes the corrupt exploitation of natural resources and international trade systems, to drive campaigns that end impunity, resource-linked conflict, and human rights and environmental abuses. It was co-nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003 for its work on conflict diamonds.
Rosie worked in a team that looks at corruption and money laundering, with a focus on making it harder for dictators to use the western financial system to launder their loot. Previously, she campaigned for more transparency around oil revenues in Sudan and for an end to illegal and unsustainable logging in Cambodia. She now works for NEPCon, a forest conservation organisation.
Before joining Global Witness Rosie worked as a research scientist. She has a first class honours degree from the University of Cambridge and a PhD from the University of Leeds.
