10 Years of OGP
Ten years ago reformers, including government ministers, mayors, parliamentarians, justices, journalists, and activists, launched the Open Government Partnership (OGP) – a simple yet distinct way to join forces to create transparent, participatory, inclusive, and accountable solutions.
Through OGP, a growing number of countries and local communities – representing more than two billion people – are working with thousands of civil society organizations to change the way that government serves its citizens. Together, we’ve co-created over 4,500 reforms fighting against corruption, including marginalized communities, enhancing citizen participation, and more.
Even in these challenging times of eroding civic space, devolving trust, a global pandemic and the rise of authoritarian and populist politics, our community has always been at work to save lives and livelihoods and build more resilient democracies.
At the upcoming OGP Global Summit in Seoul and online, we will look back at the stories of open government champions and the reforms. We will share our story, and we hope you’ll join us in sharing yours.
By learning from the past, together we can meet the unprecedented threats of today, harnessing the optimism and energy that first launched OGP in the pursuit of the most pressing mission – a democracy renewed by and for all.
In the next few months, we’ll be sharing blogs, resources, activities and events to reflect on the successes of the first 10 years and look ahead to the next decade. Explore below.
