Here’s our monthly roundup of updates from the OGP Local community for August 2022.

ACTION PLAN

• Yerevan Municipality (Armenia) opened a public call for proposals for commitments for their first action plan.
• The Municipality of Rosario (Argentina) made major progress on its commitment to the production and analysis of gender-focused data and carried out a citizen participation exercise to vote for projects to be implemented through the participatory budget mechanism.
• Mexico City and Cuauhtémoc (Mexico) are currently collecting ideas and proposals from citizens for the creation of their first action plan.
• The Kaduna State´s Budget commission (Nigeria) discussed challenges of implementation for their action plan.

ACTIVITIES & EVENTS

• OGP’s CEO Sanjay Pradhan visited Nigeria to meet with reformers in government and civil society, including the heads of the Abuja City Council, Kaduna State, and Plateau State and discuss their efforts to enhance citizen participation in budget processes, public services and more.
• Watch regional authorities and civil society groups in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region of Morocco celebrate their OGP Local membership.
• The Kaduna State Public Procurement Authority (Nigeria) has published 250 projects from the 2021 and 2022 budget allocations worth over 63 Billion Naira.
• The Mayor of Chihuahua (Mexico) signed an open government declaration with transparency institutions to promote an open and surrender accounts policy.
• Explore the Generalitat Valenciana’s (Spain) latest Open Data Strategy.
• Contagem’s City Hall (Brazil) held four meetings to debate ideas with cultural agents.
• Read this comparative analysis of the strategies of Puente Alto, Peñalolén, and Renca (Chile).
• Accountability Lab Mexico participated at the first meeting of Nuevo Leon’s multistakeholder forum.
• Contagem’s City Hall (Brazil) held  the Itinerant Ombudsman Project to listen to citizens and help the community on how to send demands to the municipal administration.
• Santa Catarina (Brazil) held an event on parliaments and open government.
• Bogotá (Colombia) organized a dialogue with the School of Public Administration on local open government.
• Mérida (Mexico) now has a municipal technical secretariat to coordinate open gov activities.
• Aragón (Spain) launched their public innovation community of practice called “Hola”.
• Buenos Aires (Argentina)  shared relevant milestones of their OGP journey.
