In Malawi, the IRM researcher Paul Kwengwere’s findings are summarized below:
“Malawi’s first action plan included measures to implement freedom of information and increase extractives’ revenue transparencyAccording to OGP’s Articles of Governance, transparency occurs when “government-held information (including on activities and decisions) is open, comprehensive, timely, freely available to the pub... More. While the government passed the Access to Information Bill during the action plan period, the Bill has lacked practical implementation. Moving forward, Malawi could improve the design of future commitments by including clearer indicators for implementation and making them more directly relevant to OGP values.”
