America Abierta

América Abierta

Brazilia, Brazil

America Abierta/Open Americas was hosted by Brazil for the first time, bringing together global and regional events to explore topics such as transparency, access to information, open government, civic technologies, data journalism, government digital, accountability, equity, and emerging technologies.

With a unique approach combining traditional and flexible formats, America Abierta fostered meaningful connections between civil society and government stakeholders. The event featured diverse activities, including the annual regional conferences ABRELATAM/CONDATOS, CODA.Br, Brazil Data Week, and the Open Government Regional Meeting.

This year’s event was co-organized by the Latin American Open Data Initiative (ILDA), the Organization of American States (OAS), and the Open Government Partnership (OGP), with participation from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). It was also coordinated by the Office of the Comptroller General (CGU), Open Knowledge Brasil, the Ponto BR Information and Coordination Center and the University of São Paulo’s Development and Participation Collaboratory.

America Abierta 2024 highlighted the power of collaboration and innovation to address pressing challenges and advance open governance across the Americas.

The city of Brasília provided the perfect setting for this exchange, showcasing its vibrant community and commitment to open governance.
