Commitment Title
Conduct an interactive campaign with citizens on protective measures to protect the environment.
Problem
A comprehensive campaign on preventive measures to protect the environment has not yet been carried out in Bar. In the absence of a strategic framework for this area at the local level, this significantly complicates the fight against pollution and climate change. This problem is especially pronounced during the tourist season when it is difficult to reduce the negative impact of human activities on nature and preserve the environment.
Status quo
So far, the Municipality of Bar has not developed a local environmental plan, nor for the protection of biodiversity, as important tools for creating a strategic framework for sustainable development at the local level. This deficiency limits the ability of the local community to systematically address its specific environmental challenges and accordingly take adequate intervention measures. This situation leads to an increase in the risks associated with the use of natural resources in the development of various social, economic, and other functions of the city. The long-term consequences are associated with a decrease in the quality of life of citizens, especially health, and irreversible devastation of nature.
Action
This commitment, which is informative and educational in correlation with the standards we strive to meet EU requirements in this area, includes but is not limited to the promotion of the following measures through an interactive campaign;
- Recycling: the process of converting waste into new products to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills;
- Emission reduction: Reducing the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by vehicles, factories, and other sources.
- Conservation of natural resources: conservation of natural resources such as water, forests, and land;
- Pollution control: reducing the amount of pollution released into the air, water, and land;
- Education: Raising awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and promoting sustainable practices;
- Sharing cars or using public transport and bicycles, as cars are major air pollutants.
- Planting trees along the sea beach: in order to prevent soil erosion and protect the coast from storms and other natural disasters.
An interactive campaign means the joint work of the administration and citizens in promoting and applying measures, to improve the relationship with the environment through learning through work and practice.
How will the commitment contribute to solving the public problem described above?
By raising knowledge and demonstrating examples through an inclusive approach and interactive campaign with citizens and other interested groups, we strive to contribute to the achievement of several results:
- Biodiversity conservation - This is important because each species plays a unique role in the ecosystem, and the loss of even one species can have a ripple effect on the entire ecosystem;
- Preventing climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and slowing the pace of climate change;
- Protecting human health by reducing exposure to harmful pollutants and toxins;
- Conservation of natural scarce resources such as water, air and land.
- Creating a sustainable future <span lang="EN-US">to provide the resources we need to meet our needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
