Description

Commitment Title
Update the Regional Climate Change Strategy for 2050 in a decentralised and participatory manner
Problem
Weak implementation and monitoring of the Cajamarca Regional Climate Change Strategy 2030.
Status quo
The most relevant national and international events/commitments on Climate Change emerged from COP21, with the Paris Agreement. However, the ERCC - Cajamarca to 2030 was approved in 2015, as it is not structured according to the above, which does not allow for monitoring its implementation according to the current regulatory framework and instruments for Climate Change Management. At the regional level, the monitoring and reporting of the GICC is carried out based on the ‘REGIONAL WORK AGENDA FOR NDC ADAPTATION AND MITIGATION MEASURES 2023 - 2024’ and not on the basis of the ERCC (main instrument for integrated climate change management - GICC).
Action
The Regional Management of Natural Resources and Environmental Management (RENAMA) commits to socialise and disseminate the implementation of NDC measures (nationally determined contributions) within the framework of the ‘REGIONAL WORK AGENDA FOR ADAPTATION AND MITIGATION NDC MEASURES 2023 - 2024’; as well as to update the Regional Climate Change Strategy through decentralised participation. For their part, other non-governmental organisations are committed to raise awareness, strengthen and carry out activities on environmental conservation and climate change.
How will the commitment contribute to solving the public problem described above?
Product:
- Regional Government and Local Governments agreeing and implementing measures for the management of climate risk and greenhouse gas emissions - GEI.
Outcome:
- By 2050 the Region of Cajamarca presents low levels of territorial vulnerability and successful results in adaptation and mitigation in the face of climate change.
What long-term goal as identified in your Open Government Strategy does this commitment relate to?
Create spaces for articulation between the government and non-governmental organisations, promoting actions that strengthen public integrity and citizen participation and vigilance, that ensure gender equality and that generate concrete actions in the face of climate change, thus contributing to the long-awaited sustainable development of our region.
Promote the creation of regional plans and strategies with the participation of actors such as adolescents for the recognition of the persistence of teenage pregnancy, as well as actors involved in climate change issues.
