Commitment Title
Strengthening democracy
Problem
Distrust among people and with respect to political leaders and popular representatives; scepticism, the perception of ineffectiveness in the performance of the authority and the ineffectiveness of the citizens ability to influence decision-making. Ultimately, the dissatisfaction and disenchantment of the inhabitants of the State of Mexico with democracy.
Status quo
Promote transparency and citizen participation during the 2021 Electoral Process, through the technological tool "Decide IEEM", which offers citizens useful and quality information for the exercise of informed and reasoned vote; allows to share, in a simple and clear way, the attributions, powers and functions of the organs of popular representation; the electoral platforms of the political parties, coalitions and independent candidates, and the trajectory and campaign proposals of the candidates who head the formulas and slates in the districts and municipalities of the State; also, the opportunity for users who wish to do so, to show their conformity with said electoral platforms and campaign proposals and, where appropriate, to send their own ideas, proposals and comments in relation to the same.
Action
Generate a link and closer ties with the people of Mexico State, promote informed and reasoned voting, transparency and citizen participation in the electoral process, as well as the involvement of the population in public affairs, beyond the exercise of the vote by citizens.
How will the commitment contribute to solving the public problem described above?
It helps to remedy the perception of distrust among people with respect to political leaders and popular representatives; the scepticism, the perception of ineffectiveness in the performance of authority and the political ineffectiveness of the citizens themselves to influence decision-making. Ultimately, the dissatisfaction and disenchantment of the inhabitants of the State of Mexico with democracy.
What long-term goal as identified in your Open Government Strategy does this commitment relate to?
It favours the participation of the population, as it allows people to influence the public sphere and intervene in decision-making, by offering them the possibility of showing their conformity or liking with respect to the electoral platforms and campaign proposals of political actors; it will also allow users to send their own ideas and proposals with respect to the aforementioned electoral platforms and campaign proposals, platforms and proposals that will eventually be translated into the creation and modification of legal norms, the design of public policies and governmental management.
