Commitment Title
Open Government Committee to reinforce data of the Attention to Victims of Familiar Violence and Genre of Monterrey Unit regarding violence against women
Problem
Women who live and transit in Monterrey can or have lived in gender-based violence in its different types and forms, which limits their individual and collective development.
Status quo
In Mexico gender based violence has alarming figures, it is considered to be one of the most dangerous countries to be a woman . According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), more than 70% of women have suffered any form of violence throughout their life. On average, 11 women are murdered daily. Figures from January to September 2022 of the Executive Secretariat of the Public Safety National System record 695 suspected femicides. Nuevo Leon has second place nationally, in suspected femicides, reporting 79. In cases of women being victims of malicious injuries, Nuevo Leon ranks 5 out of 32, having 2,336 cases in the first nine months of 2022. In the particular case of Monterrey, it occupies the ninth place out of the hundredth municipalities with the highest number of cases of femicide, and since 2016 it is one of the priority municipalities to attend the Gender Based Violence Declaratory Alert.
Action
The installation of an Open Government Committee for the Unit of Attention to Victims of Familiar Violence and Genre of Monterrey (UAVVI) will be an open government practice since it will have an active collaboration of government entities that work to prevent, attend and eliminate violence in Monterrey, as well as academia and civil society, with the means of generating information that allows the creation of actions aimed towards the elimination of gender based violence in Monterrey. The transversal formation of the Committee will permit that the parts that constitute it can contribute from their responsibilities, functions and experiences to strengthen the use of data generated from the attention that is given to people, particularly women, that attend the UAVVI, therefore generating an analysis of the information as a reference to the execution and improvement of their activities, while the principles of good practices of citizen participation and transparency are enhanced.

Furthermore, currently, citizens have access to the Open Data web page of the Municipality of Monterrey, in which they can consult and download different types of information relevant to the citizens. |
