Commitment Title
Comprehensive program to improve Pastaza's environmental situation
Problem
Pastaza faces several environmental and social challenges that threaten its biocultural wealth. Among these problems are the lack of environmental awareness and citizen co-responsibility, the absence of sustainable economic alternatives to quit deforestation as a means of livelihood, and the lack of support, monitoring, and conservation projects for biodiversity and water sources. Additionally, there are no consistent awareness campaigns or educational programs to strengthen environmental care among children, youth, and communities. These issues are exacerbated by the lack of coordination between different levels of government and the absence of transparency mechanisms that enable communities to understand and participate in decisions related to environmental management.
