Here’s our monthly roundup of updates from the OGP Local community for January 2023.
ACTION PLAN
- More OGP Local members delivered their action plans: Armavir, Armenia; Contagem, Brazil; Wassa Amenfi East, Ghana; San Pedro Garza García, Mexico; Monterrey (City), Mexico; Nuevo Leon (State), Mexico; Rustavi, Georgia; Kutaisi, Georgia; Yerevan, Armenia; and Khoni, Georgia. Also, Buenos Aires, Argentina added 3 commitments to their action plan.
- On January 20, the Municipality of Sarchí, Costa Rica, launched a call to citizens to participate by proposing ideas as the mechanism for the co-creation of its first action plan.
- ECLAC trained officials from Maipú, Chile, on how to create local open government initiatives and reviewed the four commitments that will be part of their action plan.
- Monterrey, Mexico, opened the voting for the 2023 participatory budget, where citizens can vote across 172 selected projects.
- Ozurgeti, Georgia, organized consultations for their new action plan using a “civic lab” model.
- Over 50,000 citizens voted for the Chihuahua, Mexico, participatory budget for 2023.
ACTIVITIES & EVENTS
- Nandi County, Kenya, held a public participation exercise for the exercise for their county-wide integrated development plan.
- Rosario, Argentina, received an award for their project “Accessibility and usability of new platforms”.
- The capital of Catalonia, Barcelona, will be the first European Capital of Democracy. For one year, Barcelona will offer a program of events and activities to strengthen democracy in Europe.
