OGP To Support Ukrainian Communities By Strengthening Local Governance

On 11 October 2022, during the OGP Europe Regional Meeting in Rome, Italy, the CEO of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Sanjay Pradhan, the Director of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Rafael Benitez, and the Executive Director of the Association of Ukrainian Cities (AUC) Oleksandr Slobozhan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support in the reconstruction of Ukrainian communities after Russia’s full-scale invasion.

OGP, the Congress, and AUC committed to supporting Ukrainian local authorities in implementing open government initiatives together with civil society organizations at the local level. The Memorandum of Understanding builds a framework for cooperation in the co-creation of more open, inclusive and sustainable local policies.  

OGP will support Ukrainian local communities in improving their resilience and reconstruction efforts; ensuring transparency, inclusiveness and accountability; and facilitating the national-local dialogue in the delivery of open government action plans.
