About

The OGP Local Circle on the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a community of practice that gathers local and national governments, civil society, and other organizations working to advance sustainable development. It aims to generate a space for the exchange of experiences, challenges, best practices, and tools to advance the 2030 Agenda through an open government perspective.


Participants 

Participation is open to any OGP member (local or national), civil society, academia, and other groups. Sign up here to participate.

Organizers are currently developing a map of Open Government initiatives aimed at the SDGs. If you have any initiative and are interested in sharing your experience, fill out the following form: Spanish / English / Portuguese / Français

The goal is to make a joint effort to unite and share common challenges and experiences in the future.


Meeting Agendas & Recordings

  • Meeting 1: Multilevel Governance Mechanisms for Sustainable Development
    The 2030 Agenda gives us a conceptual framework, a common language to provide answers and concrete solutions to local problems. But to achieve this, multilevel governance mechanisms (shared responsibility between the different decision-making levels, whether national, provincial, regional, or municipal) must be in place, such as in the Province of Córdoba.

  • Meeting 2: Citizen Participation in the 2030 Agenda and Awareness of the SDGs
    Participants shared useful methodologies and tools to engage citizens in sustainable development. The City of São Paulo shared training and resources to implement the 2030 Agenda at the municipality level.

  • Meeting 3: Civil Society Commitment to Civic Education, Agenda 2030, and SDGs
    Citizen education is fundamental element for the success and long-term sustainability of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the promotion of the SDGs. This meeting was an opportunity to exchange good practices and concrete experiences of how civil society organisations like Akatu Institute (São Paulo, Brazil), Junior Achievement (Córdoba, Argentina) and JuventusMx (Mexico City, Mexico) are working with public authorities in implementing and monitoring the 2030 Agenda through civic awareness, engagement and training.

  • Meeting 4: Public-private Partnerships and opportunities for implementing the 2030 Agenda
    The session highlighted experiences from Agencia ProCórdoba, and the City of São Paulo with the case of the CEUs (Unified Educational Centres), showcasing how collaborations with the private sector contribute to sustainable practices and support education and culture initiatives in their regions.

Tailored for governments keen on executing the Agenda 2030 at local and regional tiers, this document meticulously delineates four phases crucial for the adept implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the subnational level: territorializing the SDGs, crafting data for monitoring, channeling resources toward the SDGs, and formulating policies intricately linked to the SDGs.
