Barbara Schreiner
Executive Director, Water Integrity Network
Barbara Schreiner is Executive Director of the Water Integrity Network. She has over 25 years’ experience in water management in developing countries, with a focus on good governance and addressing poverty, inequality, gender and other forms of social and economic marginalisation. She has written extensively on these issues.
Previously she was Executive Director of the Pegasys Institute, a not-for-profit organisation working to find African solutions to African challenges in water and infrastructure management. She has worked as a consultant and in senior management in the public sector in South Africa, including as advisor to several Ministers.
She has been active on a number of Boards: the International Water Management Institute, the Challenge Programme on Water for Food, the International Steering Committee of the Global Water Partnership, the Isimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site, and as Chairperson of the Water Research Commission of South Africa. She currently a member of the Steering Committee of Sanitation and Water for All.
