Stanley Achonu

Stanley Achonu works for BudgIT as Operations Lead, a civic organisation based in Lagos, Nigeria, which uses technology, social media, infographics, interactive application and videos to simplify public data; and campaigns for institutional reform and access to government through advocacy and civic engagement. Achonu leads BudgIT’s engagement with government and media in Nigeria. He coordinates Open Alliance Nigeria, a coalition of civil society organisations working on the implementation of Open Government Partnership in Nigeria and is a member of OGP in Nigeria Steering Committee. He also provides data journalism training for journalists in Nigeria and Sierra Leone and supports their use of data for storytelling. Achonu is passionate about open data and advocates its use to drive transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.
