Announcing the 2018 Co-Creation Awards

OGP Support Unit|

We are pleased to announce the nine winners of the OGP Trust Fund Participation and Co-creation Awards. Overall, we received thirty-three high quality proposals, making it very difficult for the OGP Trust Fund Council to select the awardees. The Council therefore expanded the award pool to maximize winning proposals and prioritized countries submitting new Action Plans in 2018. The nine winners will facilitate dialogue between government and civil society to develop Action Plans. By joining forces with civil society organizations, the OGP Trust Fund provides them with the support and resources needed to execute a co-creation process that will convene key stakeholders with underrepresented groups to source ideas for more impactful commitments in Action Plans.

The top-quality programs in five countries and four locals (i) demonstrate approaches that go beyond the business-as-usual for government and civil society consultation workshops; (ii) are led by applicants with the institutional capacity and experience to work together with government on open government; (iii) will be implemented in countries and locals with an OGP multi-stakeholder forum; and (iv) are consistent with the World Bank’s governance program in the country. The Application Guidelines released at during the Call for Proposals outline the selection criteria in detail.

The OGP Trust Fund team, the World Bank country offices, and the Support Unit will provide tailored support to strengthen program design and ensure that results are achievable, and that the collaboration between government civil society is sustainable following the submission of the Action Plan.

In-country, the World Bank team will provide support at the front lines, help convene relevant actors, and link open government with the country’s development priorities. The team will work with the Support Unit’s regional teams who will ensure consistency of the programs with OGP’s Participation and Co-Creation Standards and processes. Their role is complemented by the OGP Trust Fund Secretariat in the World Bank, who will manage the administration and provide quality assurance and consistency across co-creation awards. The World Bank and the Support Unit will continue to assist all countries and locals in developing and implementing their OGP Action Plans.
