OGP Thematic Working Groups: Find out more at the upcoming Summit
Recognizing that good ideas come from everywhere, one of OGP’s top priorities is to find practical ways to share experiences and inspiration across the partnership. That is why we are extremely excited to be formally launching five new thematic working groups at the OGP London Summit.
Our goal for these working groups is simple: to help countries create and implement more ambitious open government commitments as part of their OGP action plans. By connecting government and civil society experts working on similar issues in very different contexts, countries can learn from each other and hopefully improve the quality of their open government initiatives. With each working group anchored by a capable pair of government and civil society leads, we are also leveraging the skills, experience and resources of a large group of like-minded partner organizations.
We will kick-start this effort with launch events for five thematic working groups at the upcoming OGP Summit: Open DataBy opening up data and making it sharable and reusable, governments can enable informed debate, better decision making, and the development of innovative new services. Technical specifications: Polici..., Legislative Openness, Fiscal Openness, Access to Information and Openness in Extractives. Each working group is organizing a session with top experts in the field to stimulate debate on emerging best practices that should inform OGP commitments.
Help us get the conversation rolling by joining us at one of the working group launch sessions on Thursday, October 31 at 2:15 pm. If you’re unable to attend in person, several of the sessions will be livestreamed here. If you like what you see, find out more about how to join a working group on OGP’s website.
