Open Gov Challenge: Dominican Republic
National Strategy for Civic Space
What’s the issue? To date, there has not been a national-level strategy to protect and expand civic space.
What’s the plan? As part of OGP’s Open Gov Challenge, the Dominican Republic committed to creating a national strategy for civic space to guarantee the rights to assembly, association, and expression.
Why is this ambitious? This commitmentOGP commitments are promises for reform co-created by governments and civil society and submitted as part of an action plan. Commitments typically include a description of the problem, concrete action... has the potential to create an enabling environment for civil society and civic action.
Learn more about the commitment from Milagros Ortiz Bosch, the General Director of Government Ethics & Integrity in the Dominican Republic.
