Open Gov Challenge: Mongolia

Online Platform to Publish Political Finance Data

What’s the issue? Mongolia needs to implement amendments to its political parties law, which focus on strengthening political finance transparency and oversight.

What’s the plan? Because the new law requires semi-annual reporting of political finances, the General Election Commission will develop an online platform to collect and publish these reports for efficient review and conduct training sessions to ensure all relevant actors can use the platform.

Why is this ambitious? The creation of an online platform for political finance reporting is critical to ensuring that government officials and members of the public can monitor such data and flag potential violations.
